What’s he been up to?
Ahoy!
Last week’s article has brought a fair few new faces to the club so I wanted to take a moment to re-state some bits and pieces. Firstly, welcome! It’s lovely to be in such esteemed company. Second, “Meetings”, that is to say longer read content, are every other Friday, “Club Chair Bulletins”, such is that which you’re currently reading, are on Wednesdays in the weeks between, scrappier info about my own life, and some recommendations, pub chat. Third, the pretence is just an aesthetic affectation, ultimately this letter is about engaging with collegiate styles in an accessible and everyday-appropriate manner.
Small Favour: If you wouldn’t mind, please share this post, or the club as a whole, with a friend who you think might be interested, it would mean a whole lot. Please also subscribe if you haven’t yet, again, it makes a big difference.
Wearing the same outfit everyday cause it’s real hot
The temperatures are continuing to climb for us situated North of that old equator, the generally dress conscious are going to start talking about summer uniforms.
I fear that somewhat unceremonious tone might imply a certain disdain for the idea, but that is absolutely not the case. I subscribe to the summer uniform, in fact I’d consider it a necessity. Having delved further this year into the differing expressions of collegiate wear, its got me thinking about what my uniform is going to look like this summer.
The trick with a summer uniform is it has to be simple, obviously. I’ve landed on decent, but not too nice, tees in white or navy, paired with a good wide pair of khakis in both trouser and short form. Working in some adaptability is necessary in the UK.
I think ultimately the summer uniform needs to be something that can be developed outwards, so as to lend some variety, a light knit or rugby over the shoulders, or an open shirt, but that still looks great on its own for the days where even the hint of another layer is abominable.
Curious to hear other’s approaches to summer uniform:
Recent Acquisitions
Nothing much to report here this week, a couple shirts off of Vinted, but really gearing up towards a serious and overdue overhaul of a lot of my bases, new tees to facilitate the above, and new socks, considering they’ll be a lot more regularly on display.

Three Recommendations
Pro Club Heavyweight Tees - A bit of a theme this week, this sort of heavyweight look isn't for everyone, they're on the longer side, but if, like myself, you are partial to a tucked tee, they can definitely be styled outside of the streetwear connotations. Plus, they’re super affordable.
@taipeiqueen - The Instagram account run by drag artist Taipei is a veritable gold mine of fashion and subculture history. Notes on vintage labels, Club Kids, recession, well worth a scroll that won't rot your brain.
Euthymol - See, I’m rather beholden to a desire to aestheticise almost every part of my life, for further thoughts on this please refer to Club Chair Bulletin #2 for a discussion in relation to YouTube creator Rajiv Surendra. If, however, you too are stricken with this desire, might I recommend* a toothpaste that looks, and tastes precisely as though it came from an apothecary, and that distinctly isn’t £6 a tube.
*Obviously I’m not a dentist, check of it’s right for yah
The Turntable
A new release to recommend this week, Australian indie artist Phoebe Go put out her debut album Marmalade in the time since the last bulletin, and it’s been a repeat listen for me.
Sonics are rich, lyrics are clever, melodies are infectious and a joy to listen to, well worth a blast on the commute.
