Bonus: The Buck Mason West Coast Ivy Collection is a Bullseye
Go west, the clothes are better there
I’ve called this meeting in addition to our usual schedule to draw attention to the brilliant West Coast Ivy collection from Buck Mason.
Buck Mason have taken the prevailing preppy trends of 2023 and fused them with cowboy flair. Beyond a keen eye for trend spotting though, the pieces are fantastic. All three-roll-two tweed and flannel trousers, knitted ties and paisley neckerchiefs. They’ve painted not only a vision of west-coast Ivy but of modern Ivy, with nostalgia for the early beginnings of the style, but far above the famously fraught class associations, more on this next week.
Ivy, it seems, has made for itself a big space in the fashion of the 2020s, just look to J. Crew’s recent releases for additional evidence. This is, of course, a very good thing, and if labels like Buck Mason are defining Ivy’s new era, I should think we are in very safe hands.
See the lookbook here, accompanied by words from Jason Jules, the sentiment being much the same as my own.
Meeting adjourned, I’ll see you when we return to our regular scheduling in a week.
